- We have called this chapter 'Mindbodyspirit Architecture: Creating Birth Space' to emphasize the importance of an understanding of mindbodyspirit even in the building of the physical location for birth, in order for birth to occur optimally. The theories and understanding that have motivated and supported my learning and practice in architecture are joined in the second half of this chapter, by the learning and practice of two midwifery colleagues to explore the possibilities for creating birth spaces that enable women to labour and give birth without disruption to the healthy dynamic flow of mother and baby neuro-physiology.
